PCT Prescribing

What information is available?

The iView PCT Prescribing data area shows the number and cost of prescriptions issued and dispensed by each Primary Care Trust.

Data can be viewed at total, chapter and section level – as classified by the British National Formulary (produced by the British Medical Association and the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain).

PCTs will be able to compare their use of prescribed drugs with other PCTs, rather than just the particular areas contained within existing NHS Prescribing Toolkit.

It currently contains the following data:

  • Number of Prescription Items
  • Net Ingredient Cost
  • Actual Cost
  • Number of records

When does the information date from?

The earliest data available is from April to June 2008. The latest data available at PCT level is from January to March 2013. Later data is available on the CCG Prescribing data area

How often is the information updated?

The data is updated quarterly, when available.
