Social Care

What information is available?

There is a vast amount of social care information available on the National Adult Social Care Intelligence Service (NASCIS) website; such as reports, analytical tools and an information search facility.

Data available in the NASCIS OLAP tool is presented using the iView format, and includes:

    • number of people receiving domiciliary services
    • expenditure
    • home care contact hours
    • number of supported residents

This data is sourced from Local Authority national returns; RAP (Referrals, assessments and Packages of Care) ASC-CAR (Adult Social Care Combined Activity Return), PSSEX (Expenditure), NIS (National Indicator Set) and UES (User Experience survey).

Joint Strategic Needs Analysis (JSNA) data and indicators are also available in the NASCIS OLAP tool.

Who can access NASCIS information?

Anyone can access the NASCIS website.

Access to 2008/09 published data in the NASCIS OLAP tool is available to everyone. All you need is to register for a HSCIC account on the NASCIS website.

Access to 2009/10 unpublished data is currently restricted to registered users from Local Authorities or Care Trusts.

This restriction is necessary as the tools provide access to 2009/10 data submitted by local authorities that has not yet gone through the full process of validation required for national statistics. Access will be granted to all users following formal publication of the data.
